E.coli-Based Malaria Transmission-Blocking Vaccine

Scientists have discovered how to make a protein out of E.coli (Escherichia coli) that could lead to a new low-cost and highly effective malaria vaccine.

Based at the Walter Reed Army Institute for Research and the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, the researchers harnessed the bacteria’s powers to develop a new way of purifying and refolding the CHrPfs25 protein.
