Food and Drug Dept. aims to regularise pharmaceutical industry

The possibility exists that close to 50 per cent of malaria drugs on the local market do not conform to quality specifications, a daunting state of affairs that is compounded by the fact that the Government Analyst Food and Drug Department (GA-FDD) is currently not in a position to speak to the status of a number of other drugs currently available here.

At least this was the assertion of GA-FDD Director Marlan Cole yesterday, as he addressed participants at a training seminar organised for importers and distributors of pharmaceuticals. The venue was Cara Lodge, Quamina Street, Georgetown.
